Inspiration for video

This is the video for 'First of the year (Equinox)' by Skrillex, and we found it inspirational to our video for several reasons.

Both the videos contain a supernatural character; and we really liked the way the video had been colour graded with a moody tone; we are planning to use something similar in our finished project.


We also were inspired by the way the video broke the standard conventions of gender representation; the male pedophile ends up being the victim to the little girl; in our video the male character is also the victim in a potentially abusive relationship. 


We also see in the video how the eyes of the little girl immediately establish her supernatural powers and can be used very effectively in a narrative sequence. It has extreme shot value and is the easiest way to signify something otherworldly without using special effects.
